20th October 2021 - Writtle vs USP Storm (Seevic Campus)

Finding themselves 3 nil down after 20 mins Writtle’s Leyton Orient academy stars fought their way back to a 5-4 win this week against USP Storm through grit, determination and a whole lot of team work!

Kaci Crook started the comeback with a goal on 22 minutes, followed closely by a set piece masterclass resulting in a goal thanks to a Phoebe Keys header meeting a fantastic corner kick from Isobel Garrett. A goal from USP Storm on the stroke of half time saw us go into the break 4-2 down.

The second half started with a renewed energy and drive from the girls, and this dedication was quickly rewarded with a second goal for Kaci Crook. This positive momentum continued as the second half progressed, and a equaliser came after 75 minutes. Following a lightning run down the wing with the ball at her feet, Isobel Garrett put the ball in to Kaci Crook on the edge of the box to make the game 4-4.

The game became Writtle’s on 82 minutes as a 4th goal from Kaci Crook hit the back of the net in front of an excited home crowd, securing a win for our first league game of the season!
